Evidence that reaches classrooms
From 2017 to 2025 at UNESCO MGIEP, designing frameworks, digital pedagogy and capacity-building programmes for education systems — and the reports that governments can act on.
EMC2
Co-developed with Anantha Duraiappah, EMC2 is a social and emotional learning framework for education for peace, designed to operationalise social justice within education systems. It builds four capacities: Empathy, Mindfulness, Compassion and Critical inquiry.
The choice of these four was deliberate: each is a trainable skill with an evidence base behind it, and each is a universally occurring human trait valued across cultures — which is what allows a single framework to travel between very different education systems.
KISME
A social and emotional learning assessment framework developed with University College London, covering Kindness, Interpersonal skills, Self and social awareness, Mental focus and Empathy. Seychelles has adopted KISME for building SEL in early childhood care and education, with a large teacher capacity-building programme underway.
Libre
A digital pedagogical framework built around multiple modes of engagement — reflection, storytelling, interactive dialogue, video, gamification, digital games, quizzes and journaling — rather than a single instructional style.
FramerSpace
Led the design of digital, interactive online courses hosted on FramerSpace, an indigenous intelligent digital learning platform that is GDPR compliant. Courses are organised around the themes of SDG 4.7 — global citizenship, climate change, biodiversity and media literacy — and are built so that academic content, cognitive skills and social and emotional skills are developed together rather than in separate lessons.
Capacity building
Designed teacher and learner capacity-building programmes that run in both hybrid and fully online modes. These have reached more than 100,000 teachers and 200,000 learners across more than 15 countries, and include a community of practice that lets teachers share knowledge across national boundaries.
